1.5 × 1.5 in square labels
At 1.5 by 1.5 inches you get a little more than twice the area of a 1 inch square, enough for a logo with a short tagline or a two-line ingredient flag. It sits neatly on the lid of a 2 oz jar or the end of a small box.

Good uses for the 1.5 × 1.5 in size
Lids of 2 oz and 4 oz jars
Fits flat on most small jam, salve and spice jar lids without wrapping over the edge.
Tamper-evident box seals
Placed across the opening of a sample box so customers can see it has not been opened.
Flavour and scent markers
A colour-coded square tells staff which candle, soap or cookie batch is which.
Hang tag stickers
Added to a blank kraft tag to brand handmade goods at markets.
Before you design
Square artwork looks best when the logo is centred with equal margins; a 1.5 inch square forgives a slightly busier design than 1 inch, but two lines of text is still the comfortable limit.
A 1.75 × 1.75 in flat panel is ideal; for wraps pick containers around 0.56 in diameter or bigger for the 1.5 in length.
Against 1.25 × 1.25 in you gain 44% more face with 1.5 × 1.5 in – going up to 1.75 × 1.75 in gives 36% more.
