For a barcode on a 2 by 1 inch label, use a Code 128 or a reduced-height UPC and keep text to one line above it.
On flat packs allow 2.25 × 1.25 in. On round containers the 2 in side wraps a 0.72 in diameter or larger.
2 × 1 in is 7% larger in area than 1.5 × 1.25 in, and 4 × 0.5 in is 0% bigger still.

Yes, a 2 by 1 inch label is a standard barcode label size. A UPC-A at about 80% magnification or a Code 128 with a short number fits with a line of text.
