10 × 2.5 in labels
A 10 × 2.5 in label (254 × 64 mm) is a slim strip about 4 times as long as it is tall, with 25 sq in of printable face. Typical homes for it: a laptop lid (11 × 7.5 in); a 9 × 12 in envelope (9 × 12 in). Expect about 16 lines of roughly 168 characters at 8 pt, and a full-size UPC-A barcode if you need one. The same page covers 2.5 × 10: rotate the artwork and choose the unwind direction in the builder.

Getting the layout right
Work on a 3038 × 788 px file with a 9.875 × 2.375 in inner guide; below 8 pt, text blurs at arm's length. On a 4:1 strip, one line set large reads better than three lines set small.
Flat surfaces should measure 10.25 × 2.75 in or more. Used as a wrap, 10 in covers a bottle of about 3.26 in diameter almost completely.
Compared with 5.5 × 4.5 in, 10 × 2.5 in has 1% more room – the next step, 6 × 4.25 in, adds 2%. For 1,000 labels the step to 6 × 4.25 in is about $8.80.
