10 × 5 in labels
Picture a half-letter sheet: 10 × 5 in (254 × 127 mm) is a little larger than that. Where it fits best: a laptop lid (11 × 7.5 in), plus a 9 × 12 in envelope (9 × 12 in). Layout budget: about 34 lines of roughly 168 characters at 8 pt; with a full-size UPC-A barcode the rest of the face stays usable. 5 × 10 is simply this size in the other orientation – same die, same price.

Before you design
Guide lines first: 9.875 × 4.875 in for content, 3038 × 1538 px for the full bleed canvas, 8 pt minimum type. At 50 sq in, low-resolution photos show; send vector art or images at least 3038 × 1538 px.
Fit check: as a front label it needs a flat panel of about 10.25 × 5.25 in; wrapped around a bottle, the 10 in length suits containers from roughly 3.26 in diameter up.
Over 12 × 4 in, 10 × 5 in offers 4% extra label area; the next size, 9 × 6 in, is 8% roomier. Going one size bigger costs roughly $14.56 more per thousand.
