9 × 3.5 in labels

9 × 3.5 in labels measure 229 × 89 mm and give you 31.5 square inches – a wide panel with a 2.6:1 ratio. It is a natural fit for a wrap around the 750 ml wine bottle (9.25 in round) and a 2 lb stand-up pouch front (6.75 × 9.5 in). Layout budget: about 23 lines of roughly 151 characters at 8 pt; with a full-size UPC-A barcode the rest of the face stays usable. 3.5 × 9 is simply this size in the other orientation – same die, same price.

Before you design

Guide lines first: 8.875 × 3.375 in for content, 2738 × 1088 px for the full bleed canvas, 8 pt minimum type. Place the barcode at least 0.5 in from either end – on the 750 ml wine bottle the seam lands there.

A 9.25 × 3.75 in flat panel is ideal; for wraps pick containers around 2.94 in diameter or bigger for the 9 in length.

Against 6 × 5 in you gain 5% more face with 9 × 3.5 in, and going up to 7 × 4.5 in gives 0% more.
