Matte labels: a soft, glare-free finish
A matte finish gives labels a soft, low-sheen surface that reads as natural and modern. It is the default for a lot of craft food, skincare and stationery brands because it avoids glare under shop lights and photographs without reflections.

Why choose matte
No glare
Barcodes, QR codes and photos read better without reflections.
Fingerprints
Matte hides fingerprints better than gloss.
Colour
Colours look slightly softer than under gloss; very saturated brand colours can look muted.
Pairing
Matte pairs well with a raised UV logo or a foil accent for contrast.
Our recommendation
When not to pick matte
If your artwork is photographic and needs maximum punch, or you want water to bead and wipe off, gloss is a better match. Dark solid colours can show scuffs on matte, so test a sample if the label is heavily handled.
